The French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have secured their fourth win in five games in the French Ligue 1 with a 2-1 victory over Rennes at Parc des Princes on Saturday night.

It was a much-needed result for PSG who were beaten by Olympique Lyonnais last weekend and dropped two points to Monaco earlier this month. The result means that PSG remain top of the table and three points clear of second-placed Marseille.

The game started well for PSG as they took the lead through a stunning strike from Kylian Mbappe in the eighth minute. The France international's curling effort from outside the box found the top corner and gave PSG the perfect start to the match.

However, Rennes fought back strongly and levelled the scores just before half-time when Moussa Diaby scored his first goal for the club. It was a crucial equaliser as it meant that PSG went into the break trailing 1-1.

PSG responded to the equaliser and dominated the second half. They created several chances but could not find the back of the net until the 77th minute. When a long ball found the feet of Lionel Messi, he crossed the ball into the box where Angel Di Maria headed home to give PSG the lead once again.

Rennes tried to fight back but PSG held on for the win and kept their unbeaten record in the league intact. With only one more match left to play, PSG now look set to finish the season as league champions.
