Paris Saint-Germain returned to the top of the French league with a dominant win over Marseille, thanks to Neymar's return from injury.

The Brazilian forward made his long-awaited return to action for PSG on Sunday, and he delivered in spades, scoring two goals in just under half an hour as they ran out 5-1 winners at Stade Vélodrome.

Neymar's first goal came in the 47th minute, after a brilliant move involving Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe, who had earlier set up the play with a through ball.

His second came in the 66th minute, after another fine display of dribbling ability, this time taking advantage of some poor defending from Marseille.

PSG were already well on their way to victory before Neymar's goals, but they continued to dominate throughout the match, creating chances and putting pressure on Marseille's defense.

It was a fitting start to the season for PSG, who have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian star during the transfer window.

However, the club has so far refused to sell him, with reports suggesting that he is eager to remain at the Parc des Princes.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Neymar's return was clearly welcomed by fans and teammates alike, and it will be interesting to see how he performs against weaker opposition in future matches.
